About the El Paso Group
Welcome to the El Paso Group of the Rio Grande Chapter of the Sierra Club. We have about 500 members, located in west Texas, including the counties of El Paso, Hudspeth, and Culberson. We share a love of the outdoors, and a desire to leave to our children and grandchildren the same opportunities to enjoy the outside world that we have had.
To accomplish this, we support conservation, smart energy solutions to combat global climate change, and wise use and protection of public lands.
Current priority conservation efforts of the Group include:
- Protecting open space
- Monitoring polluters and the ASARCO smelter clean-up
- Recycling of household waste
- Water Conservation
- Working with city government to continue implementation of Cool Cities initiatives
